Winter weather can be pretty crazy in Ohio – making a winter engagement session a little unpredictable, but what wasn’t crazy is how much love and care Josh and Taylor had for each other! They met at a work conference and quickly noticed each other amidst the crowds, which led to some coffee dates. Because they live in different states, they have had to get creative with spending time with each other, including when Josh proposed!

He told me that the proposal details actually started on their first date. They were at a book store, and he noticed her looking at a special edition of JRR Tolkien’s The Hobbit. Nine months later, he bought the illustrated book for her, wrote a poem based on the novels, and even made the paper of the poem look old and aged. Then, he hid the engagement ring in between the pages of the book, ready for her to find! While they were on a hike at one of Taylor’s favorite spots, they took a little break to enjoy the charcuterie board and hot cocoa that Josh had prepared (so romantic, right?!). Josh presented her with the special book and poem he had written about the journey of life, and as soon as she saw the beautiful ring hidden in the pages, he got down on one knee! Afterward, Josh surprised her with their closest friends and family – such a fun way to celebrate!

Because they love being outdoors, it made perfect sense to capture them together at a couple local parks. We first stopped at the Historic Clifton Mill, where they shared some fun memories together seeing the Christmas lights and hiking, and then we headed over to Buck Creek State Park for some beautiful winter lake views (and yes – that’s SNOW on the beach!). Even with the cold weather, we had so much fun together, and Taylor rocked that blue dress and heels – wow! They are the perfect pair, and I am so excited for their summer wedding at Manor House!
