The romantic Magnolia Plantation and Gardens was the ideal spot to capture AJ and Chelsea’s engagement session.  The whimsical gardens and romantic elegance of the venue was exactly the look they envisioned for the engagement portraits. The sweeping Spanish moss hanging from the ancient live oak trees creates the perfect backdrop for photos. We had the most wonderful time exploring the grounds on a beautiful summer day, taking in all the beauty the venue has to offer.  

Romantic Magnolia Plantation and Gardens Engagement

As I captured AJ and Chelsea’s engagement portraits, I was reminded of the famous love story “The Notebook”!  This picturesque setting had romantic  “The Notebook” vibes. In addition to the beautiful Spanish moss, there were lovely gardens with gorgeous summer flowers in bloom. The various pink hues added a pop of color to their images. Magnolia Plantation and Gardens features a white bridge over the swamp lands, which provides the perfect photo backdrop. As I captured Chelsea and AJ on the bridge, we were startled to see a surprise photo-bomber appear. An alligator slowly drifted by us while we were standing on the bridge. Witnessing swamp wildlife is common here, as the area is home to many other creatures, all of which you can see safely from the various bridges and boardwalks. 

During their engagement session, AJ and Chelsea shared more of how they met through mutual friends and quickly became inseparable. AJ proposed one evening during an after dinner walk with their dogs through their town. Chelsea recalls flowers decorating a big wooden structure near a stage where the community hosts open mic nights. As they approached the stage area, AJ got down on one knee to propose, telling Chelsea, he couldn’t imagine life without her!  

How incredibly sweet and romantic! I loved hearing their story and capturing the two of them together for their engagement. It was easy to see their love for one another throughout their session in the way they danced under the oak trees, locked eyes as they walked together near the Magnolia house, and embraced each other in the gardens. I had the most wonderful time capturing their airy and romantic engagement portraits to document this special moment in their relationship!  AJ and Chelsea, congratulations to you both!
