The romantic, beautiful gardens at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens are truly a gorgeous location for an outdoor wedding. This idyllic wedding venue sits on the banks of the Ashley River and provides a variety of photo opportunities around the grounds of the estate. I had the joy of capturing Savannah and Matt’s timeless Charleston wedding here as they exchanged vows under the Spanish moss covered live oak trees.
Timeless Charleston Wedding
Savannah and Matt incorporated many beautiful and thoughtful details into their day, truly making it their own. As guests arrived, they were greeted with refreshing welcome drinks. A custom wedding day newspaper, fans, and parasols waited for guests as they made their way to the pews set up under the canopy of Spanish moss at the outdoor ceremony.
Once official, the newlyweds exited their wedding ceremony and we explored the grounds capturing their gorgeous wedding portraits. The low hanging branches of the Oak trees and the cascading effect of the Spanish moss created an enchanting, romantic backdrop. We finished their newlywed portraits on the iconic white bridge that stretches over the water.
Wedding Details
I loved all the elegant and timeless wedding details. Savannah’s bridal bouquet featured white roses surrounded by baby’s breath. The bridesmaids bouquets featured bunches of baby’s breath that looked beautiful against their satin, sage green dresses. Similar flower arrangements of classic white roses, accented baby’s breath were used as centerpieces at the reception. However, one of my favorite details were the fluffy spheres of baby’s breath that hung from the sailcloth tent. Lights also hung from the ceiling of the tent adding to the romantic aesthetic.
The couple also had a live painter who captured the magic of their ceremony, as well as other painters at the reception who created watercolor favors for their guests. I love both of these ideas so much as it creates such wonderful keepsakes for both the couple and their guests! The couple also incorporated their love of travel into their wedding by using luggage tags as their seating chart and displaying postcards for all over the world for guests to choose from and write notes on the back to the couple. These little details are what make each wedding so unique and special!
As the reception began, a beautiful, colorful sunset danced across the sky with cotton candy clouds. Laughter and love filled the air as wedding toasts were given and guests celebrated the newlyweds on the dance floor! Later in the evening, Savannah changed into a chic, sparkly dress. The newlyweds and their guests continued celebrating well into the evening until Savannah and Matt made their exit under beautiful light-up lanterns, hand-made by the bride. It was a beautiful ending to their dreamy wedding day!
