Romantic Surprise Proposal

While I absolutely love photographing weddings and engagements, there is something really special about surprise proposals! There is such excitement in the air and then the overflow of joy and happiness after the proposal. Zach planned this romantic surprise proposal under the Spanish moss covered live oak trees at Boone Hall in Mount Pleasant, SC. This was the perfect spot, as the Spanish moss creates such an enchanting, romantic atmosphere!

Zach, Katie, and her family were vacationing in Charleston from Ohio, and Zach planned a trip to Boone Hall to pop the question. I was thrilled to be a part of his plan and capture the entire proposal as it unfolded.

As Zach got down on one knee you could see the surprise on Katie’s face. She had no idea! Katie, of course, said “YES!” He then slipped the ring on her finger as Katie’s parents and sister, Meghan, made their way over to hug and congratulate them. It was heartwarming to see the love and happiness between the family.

To celebrate, Katie’s sister, Meghan, painted a bottle of champagne with special details, including their dogs and even Boone Hall to commemorate this special moment! It was such a sweet and thoughtful gift. We then shared a toast in honor of the newly engaged couple. While we were there, we also took advantage of the gorgeous grounds of Boone Hall, capturing a few engagement portraits of the couple.

I am so grateful I was able to capture this exciting moment for Katie and Zach. Now, they will have gorgeous images to look back on and relive this romantic surprise proposal. Congratulations!
