It was a beautiful spring day for Molly and Seth’s stunning William Aiken House Wedding in Charleston, SC! The weather was full of sunshine and blossoming flowers, including many pink and white azaleas – the perfect backdrop for wedding portraits!
Molly had a good luck penny that she kept with her on her wedding day, which she’s had since birth and is marked with her birth year. She also wore a special bracelet of her aunt’s. Before the wedding ceremony, Molly and Seth met for a first look under the Spanish moss covered oak tree. There they exchanged private vows to each other. It was an incredibly sweet, intimate, and joy-filled moment.
The Wedding Ceremony
Just before the ceremony, Molly added a long skirt to her dress, which gave her such a glamorous look! The outdoor wedding ceremony took place in one of the courtyards at the William Aiken House with big trees overhead. After the ceremony, the bride and groom snuck away for portraits in one of the lovely private gardens on the property, which had a stunning display of white flowers in bloom.
I first met Molly and Seth for their engagement session in downtown Charleston. (You can view their gorgeous engagement portraits here!) Molly is originally from Rhode Island and they live in sunny Key West, Florida. They traveled all the way to Charleston, SC for their engagement and wedding and wanted to incorporate both the southern charm of Charleston with aspects of Rhode Island and tropical Key West.
They did this by using key lime name placers, and having lemons, limes, and oranges decorate the tables at the reception. Dessert included delicious key lime mini pies. Cocktail hour included specialities such as blueberry lemonade in honor of the Newport, RI classic, and Planters Punch for Charleston. I loved this little nod to their roots that was beautifully intertwined with the rest of their wedding day! The yellow walls of the William Aiken House fit the style perfectly, especially with the big Southern porches and 200 year old magnolia tree decorated with hanging lanterns.
William Aiken House Wedding Reception
One of my favorite moments of the night was when Molly’s sister and friends surprised her with a song and dance to the Fresh Prince of Bel Air Theme Song! Their rendition of the 90’s sitcom theme song had everyone laughing. They also had a photo booth that rotated around the guests, and a telephone where guests could leave them a recorded message! I love this idea! It is such a fun alternative to a guest book!
Molly and Seth, along with their wedding guests, danced the night away under the stringed lights that decorated the outdoor reception space to the wonderful sounds of River and Les. River and Les is one of Molly and Seth’s favorite bands from Key West that they brought along to Charleston! They performed quite the show with solos, splits on the dance floor, and more! Their night was filled with so much fun and laughter. It was truly a night to remember and one of my favorite weddings I’ve had the honor of photographing. Molly and Seth, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day! Congratulations to you both!
