Friday Faves: 5 Things I’m Loving Lately {November Edition}

Personal

It’s another month, and another Friday Faves! I can’t believe it’s November already – I’m still wondering where August went! It has been a busy but fun fall season so far for us. It has been a particularly warm month, so we have spent lots of days outside playing, riding bikes, hiking, picking pumpkins, and soaking up the last bit of warmth. With cooler temperatures, beautiful foliage, and Christmas card season coming up, fall is a great time for photos, and I’m so thankful for clients who have invested in capturing this time in their lives! So, here are 5 Things I’ve Been Loving Lately:

1. Twirly Dresses

I remember loving to dress up and dance as a little girl, and it makes me smile to see Abby doing the same. These twirly dresses make both of us happy, especially when there’s pretty light! I even created our own Instagram hashtag – #AbbyTwirls – so that we can see the photo series as we go. Our favorite twirling dresses have come from Alice + Ames and Hanna Andersson.

2. Hiking

The kids had a couple days of Fall Break, so we decided to hike a couple trails at a nearby State Park – Hocking Hills. There are beautiful views, caves, rock formations, and bridges. It was the first time Ethan and Abby had been there, and they absolutely loved exploring the area.

3. Fall Leaves

I love watching the leaves gradually turn shades of red, orange, and yellow, and it’s always fun to go on a hunt for interesting ones.

4. Alarm Clock for Kids

Hands down, this little alarm clock, or sleep trainer, is one of our favorite purchases as parents! We started using it when Ethan was only a couple years old, and it made bedtime so much easier. It has two pictures – one with a little lamb sleeping and one with a little lamb awake. We set it for the time they are allowed to get out of bed, and at the set time, the picture switches to the lamb awake. You can set it so that there is a sound or no sound, but we’ve always had it set on “no sound” – we will take any extra minutes of sleep we can get! So, now there are no longer any middle of the night calls to see if it’s time to get up. It’s also SO helpful when you have to set the clocks forward or backward, such as Day Light Saving this weekend. Sometimes when we’re really on top of things, the week before a time change, we will set their clocks 15 minutes early or behind every couple of days until it’s at the correct time.

5. Pumpkin Picking

We’ve been going to the same pumpkin patch for many years, and it’s always a tradition to get a picture with this pumpkin patch sign. The wagon ride out to the pumpkin field is just as fun as finding the largest pumpkin to bring home, and we always get some pumpkin donuts for the way home. One of the best parts of living out in the country!
