Downtown Historic Charleston Engagement

I had the absolute joy of capturing this stunning downtown historic Charleston engagement along The Battery of this beautiful couple. They both share the name Taylor, which is actually how the pair ended up meeting! We had the best time exploring the streets of downtown, taking in the sights, and capturing their stunning portraits. I was so honored to photograph their engagement as they live near Wilmington, NC, but traveled 3.5 hours in one day to do their session with me in Charleston, a city they love.

The jasmine and roses were blooming downtown and filled the air with their sweet fragrance. They smelled so good! We walked the charming streets of historic Charleston, taking in the architecture, iconic landmarks, beautiful scenery, and spring blooms. As we strolled by the harbor to capture a few images with the water in the background, we were happy to see sailboats going by. Knowing how much the couple love boating made this moment even more special. They shared with me that going boating is one of their favorite things to do together and it happens to be one of his favorite hobbies!

Their Story

The couple met in Nashville as she was there celebrating her birthday and he was there for a friend’s bachelor party. Their friend groups ended up talking and they bonded over having the same name! They ended up meeting up every day for the rest of the Nashville trip, and have been inseparable since. They dated long distance for 2.5 years before she moved from Iowa to be with him in Hampstead, NC.

Taylor proposed to her at one of their favorite places, Blue Water in Wilmington. Both of their families joined together for dinner. It was a beautiful evening by the water and they were there as the sun was setting, which meant it was the perfect photo opportunity. The group went down by the water for photos, and when it was their turn, they took a picture and then as she turned around after getting her phone, he was down on one knee! She was completely shocked and thrilled to have her family and his family there to celebrate this special moment.
